    Blower installation

Posted by Bruce Jones on 17th Jan 2022

This kit is well made and includes clear instructions. I had to bend a small metal tab on the bottom opening of my fireplace to get the blower assembly to clear and attach as instructed.

    Fireplace blower

This blower was easy to install and works great! Hardest part was working in the confined space. I did have to remove the back plate to get it where it needed to be and then reattach it after but that was the hardest part. Overall I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it!

    Blower

Super easy to install once I figured out how to get the blower to the proper location without breaking anything. Had to bend the metal plate attached to the pilot ignition button to squeeze the blower past it but I was able to bend it back to its original location without breaking it. Also, before installing, I vacuumed around the fire box and then used an outdoor blower to blast any loose dust out. I’m confident this, and annual vacuuming will be sufficient to keep this blower in proper working condition.

    • GZ550-1KT Fireplace Blower Kit for Continental BCDV36NTR Fireplaces

Posted by Russell Sarbora on 25th Jan 2019

January 25, 2019 Thank you for the opportunity to provide feedback to you regarding my purchase and installation of GZ550-1KT Fireplace Blower Kit for my Continental BCDV36NTR fireplace. I have successfully installed the blower and it appears to be operating in accordance with the My Fireplace Blower installation kit instructions and the Continental Fireplaces Installation and Operating Instructions manual. That said, installation of the blower kit was somewhat difficult, and included damage to the blower kit which I was able to repair. My specific installation issues are detailed below: 1. Blower mechanism could not be inserted into the target mounting area without removal of the piezo igniter bracket, which subsequently required removal of the pan burner and the fireplace combustion chamber floor surface, to which the piezo igniter and bracket were affixed. 2. Attempts to insert the blower mechanism without removal of the items mentioned above led to breakage of the plastic bracket affixed to the blower’s electric motor such that the leftmost spade/terminal (closest to the fan) was separated from the electric motor and simply hanging from the wire entering the electric motor. 3. Through the use of a low-amp soldering iron/pencil, I was successful in reattaching the broken portion of the plastic bracket to its original intended position. This was accomplished by melting I thereafter I proceeded with the mounting of the blower, the thermodisc heat sensor, and reinstallation of the components that interfered with the blower mounting. 4. I then sought to install the variable speed control unit. My preferred location was to left side of the fireplace near the existing electrical components, but with the dial/knob portion of the speed control unit (rheostat?) protruding through a hole (to be drilled), and the body of the rheostat concealed inside the left side vertical channel. Unfortunately, the rheostat mechanism was too wide to fit within the channel by what I estimate to be about 3/16 of an inch. Please advise regarding: A. Risk associated with my repair to the plastic bracket. B. Availability of a narrower rheostat variable speed device compatible with the remaining components of the Fireplace Blower kit. Sincerely, Russell Sarbora 206.419.7451 rsarbora@gmail.com

    excellent addition to our fireplace

Posted by Unknown on 26th Oct 2014

Putting in a blower to push the warm air out into the room was a no brainer. We were amazed that the original house owners did not put one in when the fireplace was added. Putting the blower in was fairly easy; the hardest part was angling it in behind the existing works, but the wall hanger was right where it needed to be to hold one side of the blower while the other side was screwed in to the back of the box.
