Our Englander CU-VS Vacuum Shut-Down Switch is a High Quality Vacuum Switch used in Englander pellet stoves & inserts. The Air Pressure Vacuum Switch acts as a safety mechanism to ensure proper temperature & airflow within the combustion and venting chamber. The CU-VS is sometimes used as a Second Vacuum Switch. A pellet stove Vacuum Switch, also known as an (Air Pressure switch or Draft Switch) works by registering the pressure difference in the heat creation system, through a hose connected to the combustion chamber and/or exhaust system.
The vacuum switch is a safety device that detects negative pressure created by the exhaust fan, as it pulls air through the stove’s venting chamber.
A faulty vacuum switch may cause the auger to stop feeding pellets into the combustion chamber, causing the stove to shut down. A blocked hose, dirty stove or clogged vent can also trigger the Air Pressure Vacuum Switch to halt the heat creation process.
